POSITION TITLE: Water Plant Operator                                                                                      Job Description

The City of Marceline is accepting applications for a Water Plant Operator. Under general supervision in the Water Department, an employee in this position performs a wide variety of skilled, semi-skilled duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of systems used in the operation of the City of Marceline Water Department including water distribution; and performs related work as assigned. This includes the operations of the water treatment plant and equipment, collecting and testing of water, recording data, adjusting chemical feed pumps, as well as maintenance of the water plant, water distribution lines.  Selected applicant will also be required to operate and maintain a range of construction equipment, including a variety of power and hand tools.

 

Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme temperatures, and exposure to various hazards.  Employees in this position work a full-time 40-hour work week and are subject to on-call and call-back work.

 

A high school diploma or GED is required, and a Class D Water and / or Distribution 1 Certification or higher is preferred.  Possession of a valid MO driver’s license with the ability to obtain CDL within six months of hire is required.  Preferred candidate will reside within a 35-mile radius of the City of Marceline or be willing to relocate within six months of hire.  Salary is based on qualifications.
