Marceline celebrates its 4th Annual Railroad Heritage Day on May 2nd

Marceline, MO On Saturday, May 2 Marceline will celebrate its 4th Annual Railroad Heritage Day.  Local railroad history can be found in all corners of Marceline.  The Walt Disney Hometown Museum is located in the former train station and the Marceline Railroad Story is located in The Beanery, once a restaurant that served train passengers.  Ripley Park holds a retired Santa Fe way car (caboose) and a retired steam engine.  South of town in the former rail yards stands one of the few remaining sand and coal chutes.

The Walsworth Community Center will host a Model Train and Railroad Memorabilia Show from 9am-4pm, including operating model train layouts.  Admission is $4, or $3 with a canned good; children under 12 are admitted free of charge.  In conjunction with the show the Santa Fe Historical Society will hold a mini meet for their members.

There will be a Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotive on display all day for the public, as well as 3 cars from the BNSF business car fleet.  Weather permitting; there will be miniature train rides for children!

Ripley Park will be full of craft vendors of all types, NOMO Art center will host a railroad themed art show, downtown merchants and restaurants will be open, and the public is welcome to enjoy a day in downtown Marceline.
