Four applications for
vacant Marceline City Council position were received during the application
period ending December 1, 2022. This position fills the vacancy for the
remainder of the election term due to the resignation of Councilman Tracy
Carlson.
Interviews were
conducted at a special session of the Marceline City Council on December 6th
and Shelly Milford was selected for the position. Councilwoman Milford was
sworn in at the regular Council Meeting on December 14th.
Outgoing Councilman Carlson was also presented a plaque recognizing his service
to the City from April of 2021 to December 2022.
Councilwoman Shelly Milford has resided in Marceline since 1997. She graduated
from Linn County R-1, earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Truman State
University and an MBA from Williams Woods University. For the last 35 years she
has been employed by Walsworth. During her tenure she was in Purchasing for 25
years as a Buyer and then Purchasing Manager. She accepted the position of
Manufacturing Information Systems Supervisor in 2012 with oversite of the
application for Walsworth locations in Missouri, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Shelly
has served on the U.S. Monarch (MIS Application) User Group Board of Directors
since 2020 currently serving as President. She is active in civic organizations
in Marceline and Linn County.
As a reminder, candidate filing for the Marceline City Council will be open
through December 27, 2022. The General Election will be held on Tuesday,
April 4, 2023. Two (2) Councilpersons will be elected at large. Once
will serve a three (3) year term and one will serve a one (1) year term.
