New addition to Marceline High School in progress

Marceline, MO – If you haven’t driven by Marceline High School in the past month, you may be surprised to see a hub of construction activity on the west side of the current facility along Highway 5.

Marceline R-V School District is constructing an addition to the High School of approximately 9,000 square feet. This new facility will include a multi-purpose gymnasium space that will also be used for a cafeteria. A serving kitchen is included in the design, as are new concessions, restrooms, and storage space. The project also includes modernization of the existing Gym Lobby, restrooms, and coach's office.

The Contractor, Schwada Buildiers, Inc., began work in March of this year after ten months of planning and engineering by the design team, Facility Solutions Group and BRS Architects, both of St. Louis.  Civil Engineering was provided by AllState Consultants of Marceline.

"We are very excited to see progress made on the dirtwork for the new cafeteria/gymnasium,” said Gabe Edgar, School Superintendent.  “We have worked with Schwada Builders in the past and we are very confident the finished product will be something to be proud of."

The project is part of the 2014 Bond Issue, and is planned for completion by the end of the calendar year.
