City Of Marceline Adds Recycling Services to Residential Solid Waste Services - Signs Five (5) Year Agreement with Advanced Disposal

Marceline, MO - On June 21st, Marceline City Council entered into a five (5) year agreement with Advanced Disposal Services Solid Waste Midwest, LLC to provide solid waste and recycling services the residents of the City of Marceline.  As with any new agreements, some things will change and some things will remain the same.  Here is a breakdown of how this new agreement will affect our residents:

Solid Waste Service (Trash Pick-up):  Residential solid waste curbside pick-up will remain on Tuesdays each week.  Pick-up will be delayed by one day following a holiday. For example - July 4th falls on a Monday this year, so pick-up will be on Wednesday, July 6th instead of Tuesday.  Containers are to be placed at the curb or alley for collection no earlier than 6:00 pm preceding the collection day.  Containers must be removed from the curb by 11:59 pm on the day of collection and placed in the most inconspicuous location as possible pursuant to Paragraph C of Section 230.030 of the Municipal Code.

Recycling: One change is the addition of bi-weekly recycling services. Advanced Disposal will be delivering a recycling cart to residential units between Tuesday, July 5th and Friday, July 8th.  With the delivery of these carts, each unit will receive informational cards and a recycling calendar magnet.  Bi-weekly recycling pick-up will begin Tuesday, July 12th.  Acceptable recycling materials include: #1 and #2 plastics, steel cans (vegetable cans), aluminum cans, paper (junk mail, newspapers, magazines, etc) and cardboard (bundled if not in container).  Pick-up will be delayed by one day following a holiday.

Bulk Waste: Advanced Disposal will collect bulky waste twice per year, once in May and once in November.  The dates will be announced by the City in advance.  Bulk items exceeding 10 yds may require the resident to contract separately with Advanced Disposal at their own expense.  Additional information on Bulk Waste is attached.  White Goods will also be collected during the bulk waste collection for a fee of $10.00 each for Non-Freon and $25.00 each for Freon white goods.  It is the responsibility of the residential customer to insure that prior to disposal, white goods are empty of all foods and liquids and that any CFCs and PCBs have been evacuated and captured by a certified technician in accordance with all applicable law, and the doors have been removed from freezers and refrigerators.   Note:  Advanced Disposal is not required to collect White Goods that do not meet these standards.

Billing:  Billing will remain the same.  Residents will see the Standard Residential Rate for solid waste and recycling services of $12.29 on their August bill.  Residents that qualify for the Senior Residential Rate will see the rate of $9.86 for solid waste and recycling services on their August bill.  To qualify for the Senior Residential Rate, residents must be a minimum of 65 years old.  Residents can bring a photo I.D. containing their birth date to City Hall Monday-Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to verify they are age 65 years or older.

Additional Carts:  Additional carts (Trash - 95 gallon & Recycling - 65 gallon) are available for rent to residential units at $5.00 per month per cart.  Residents must contract directly with Advanced Disposal for this service and pay the associated fees.

Contact:  Residents can contact Advanced Disposal directly via phone at 1-800-778-7652 or email at MaconMo@AdvancedDisposal.com

Exclusive Right:  Advanced Disposal has the exclusive right from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2021 to collect and dispose of Residential Waste & Recycling within the city limits of Marceline with the exception of Walsworth Community Center.  Walsworth Community Center may continue to receive and collect recyclable materials from municipal residents and commercial customers under this agreement.

Commercial Waste:  Commercial waste is not part of the agreement with Advanced Disposal and must be contracted separately.
