Family Health Center cuts ribbon on its new facility

Marceline, MO  The City officially celebrated the new home of Family Health Center on September 12, 2014 with the ribbon-cutting ceremony, located at 1600 N. Missouri Avenue.  Tours of the new medical and dental facilities were provided, as well as serving of light refreshments.

Family Health Center started in Columbia in 1992 and expanded to Salisbury in 2005, with further expansion to Marceline in 2009.  The former Marceline Community Health Center sought to achieve FQHC status and was integrated into Family Health Care.  The facility was originally located in the old St. Francis Hospital.  Between 2011 and 2012, Family Care Center received funding through the Missouri Neighborhood Assistance Program and the Health Resources and Services Administration to renovate the existing building at 1600 N. Missouri Avenue (the current medical center) and build the dental building.  Dr. Zimmerman, is the only dentist in Marceline.  Family Care Center employs 10 people and is focused on providing primary care medical and dental services to the community.

“We stay very activity in the Marceline Chamber of Commerce and do our best to be good community partners,” said Phillip Berger, Family Health Center’s Director of Marketing, Planning, and Special Projects.  “We want everyone to know that we are a part of the Marceline Community.”

Family Health Center is a federally qualified health center (FQHC), supported by a federal grant that allows application of a sliding fee discount to those without insurance.   This provides both the insured and uninsured patients to be seen. Uninsured patients are required to provide income documentation and they receive a discount based on their income level.
