Pool Manager

The City has hired Carol Logue as the Pool Manager to run the day-to-day operations of the pool, to include programming, lifeguard scheduling and training, maintenance and equipment, marketing and many other aspects of ensuring the new pool is safe, clean and well-attended.  Ms. Logue (pictured right) has her first priority of ensuring peripheral equipment, such as safety and leisure gear, are ordered and in place prior to the grand opening.  Also, Ms. Logue is conducting a full review of the current Pool Policy Manual and providing recommendations to the Council.

Carol is a graduate of Marceline High and earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and Data Processing at Northeast Missouri State University (Truman).  After college she moved to the Illinois Quad Cities where she worked at the YMCA as a lifeguard, as well as swim lesson and aquatic exercise instructor.  She has since worked at aquatic facilities in Brookfield and Lake Nehai.

“I am looking forward to having a year around pool in Marceline and know the citizens will thoroughly enjoy the pool year-round,”  said Logue.  “We are planning on having open and lap swims along with swim lessons for all ages and different aquatic exercise classes.  I would like to reiterate that this is a year-round facility, and the need for lifeguards and instructors, especially in the winter, is very important.”

Until the Pool Manager’s Office is complete at the pool, Ms. Logue is working at City Hall and can be reached via email at carol.logue@marcelinemo.us

The pool construction is still on schedule.  The slide is currently being installed.  The pool basin and surrounding area will be painted within the next week.  Following a full week for the paint to cure, water will be added within the first two weeks of May.  On May 15th, City Staff members will join Carrothers Construction and Larkin Aquatics personnel to conduct a “dry run” on all equipment to ensure systems performance to standard.

A grand opening ceremony is planned for 10:00 am, May 27, 2017.
