Marceline, MO —
As
the weather
warms up,
we’re seeing
more kids
and families
enjoying bikes,
skateboards, and
scooters. We want to remind everyone of the importance of sidewalk safety
and respecting city regulations.
According to Section 340.100 of
the Marceline Municipal Code:
It is unlawful to ride a
bicycle, motorized bicycle, coaster, skateboard, roller skates, or similar
device:
-
On sidewalks within the
business district
-
On sidewalks bordering Kansas
Avenue and
Main Street
USA, between Santa Fe Avenue and Gracia Street,
during the hours of 6:00 AM to
6:00 PM
WHY IT
MATTERS:
This ordinance is designed to
ensure pedestrian safety in high-traffic
areas.
IN OTHER
AREAS:
Outside of the
restricted zones and
hours, sidewalk
riding is
not prohibited. We encourage
all riders to:
-
Yield to
pedestrians
-
Maintain a safe
speed
-
Be courteous and
cautious around storefronts and crosswalks
LET'S HELP
EACH OTHER:
If you see someone riding in a
restricted area, please offer a kind
reminder.
A positive and respectful
approach goes a long way toward keeping Marceline friendly and
safe.
If someone desires to travel via the sidewalk with their
bicycle in a restricted area (Downtown) they may push their bicycle instead of
riding it in those areas.
