Candidate filing for the Marceline City Council closed at 5:00 pm on Tuesday,
January 19, 2021. The General Election for the City of Marceline will be
held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. This year, two (2) Councilmembers
will be elected at large to serve a three (3) year term.
Currently, the seats are held by
Councilwoman Sallie Buck and Councilman Tyson Brammer.
The candidates vying for the open seats include candidates Sallie Buck
(incumbent), Perry Wiggins, Tracy Carlson and Jeffrey Gulley. Once the
candidates are elected to the open Council seats, those persons will be sworn in
on the Monday following the election, April 12, 2021.
The following are brief candidate biographies submitted to the City:

Incumbent Candidate
Sallie Buck is a life-long resident of the area and will be running for her
third three-year term on the council. During the six years Sallie has
been a council member, she has earned the Certified Municipal Official
certification from the Missouri Municipal League (MML) and has served as
Mayor of Marceline for the last two years. Sallie is an active member of
Marceline Rotary, among other civic organizations, and has been employed
with Walsworth Publishing for nearly 48 years.

Candidate Perry
Wiggins came to Marceline in 1968 after graduation from New Cambria High
School. He graduated from Molar Barber College and went to work in
Marceline in early 1968 where he has resided ever since. Perry is
currently retired from barbering and is working his rental business in town.
Perry is married to Mary Wiggins who is the manager of Prenger Foods.
Perry and Mary have been married for 51 years and have 2 children, 3
grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Perry has previously served six
years as a Marceline City Councilman with knowledge of City operations.
Perry has plenty of time devote to the Council and will be available to
listen to any concerns of the citizens of the City and is looking forward to
serve all.

Candidate Tracy
Carlson is a 1993 graduate of Marceline High School. Tracy earned a
degree in Political Science from Missouri Western State University and
earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in
2000. Tracy returned to Marceline in 2001 to establish a law practice.
Tracy served Linn County as Prosecuting Attorney from 2003-2018 and he
currently continues to engage in private law practice in Marceline.
Tracy currently serves on the Marceline Planning & Zoning Board as well as
the Marceline Historic Preservation Board. Tracy also serves as
Treasurer of the 9th
Judicial Circuit Bar Association and is a member of the Local Government Law
Committee to the Missouri Bar. Tracy is a member of the Par Baptist
Church and is married to Cathy (Enyeart) Carlson, who is employed as a High
School Guidance Counselor. Tracy is grateful for the opportunity to
serve the Marceline community and strives to pursue the best interest of
Marceline.
Individuals wishing to be registered to vote for the upcoming election in April
can do so by filing with their County Clerk by March 10, 2021.
