There are no confirmed cases of the COVID-19 Virus [coronavirus] in Marceline.  However, in a concerted effort to slow the spread of the virus, precautionary measures are being taken by the City, local organizations, and businesses, with more actions forthcoming.  These measures will be taken protect those who may be more susceptible to the effects of the virus, employees whose social interaction are a part of their daily duty, and to keep essential City services in operation without interruption.  There may be some inconveniences to a few, but it is to benefit the many.


Humans are social creatures by nature, and the economy is based mainly on social interaction.  Through this, there is the possibility of the Coronavirus making its way to the Marceline area.  Prevention through good hygiene practices and preparedness are the best tools to combat the spread of the virus.  Please follow the CDCís recommendations for prevention.  The MO Department of Health and Senior Services has also created a COVID-19 Hotline for more information at (877) 435-8411.


The City is working closely with officials from the Linn County Health Department, Marceline R-V School District, Marceline Ministerial Alliance, Marceline Housing Authority and other agencies and will provide information as soon as it becomes available.  If your business, group or organization has event cancellations, long term closures, or any information needing dissemination, please send the information to

CURRENT CANCELLATIONS / CLOSURES / POLICY UPDATES  - updated 7:06 am, March 30, 2020 -

Local Businesses / Organizations:

  • Bristol Manor is temporarily closed to all visitors and volunteers.

  • Pioneer Skilled Nursing has modified their visitor status as follows:

    • Family member visitors over 12 years of age visiting a resident at end of life or in hospice (limited to one at a time)

    • Outside healthcare providers serving current residents

    • Resident Ombudsman

    • Essential vendors and delivery personnel.

    All allowed visitors must sign in and complete a wellness self-check upon entering the building and adhere to infection control and personal protective equipment instructions.

  • The Marceline City Market normally held on Tuesdays at the Walsworth Community Center has been cancelled until further notice.

  •  The Nutrition Center at the Marceline Housing Authority will be closed to congregate meals beginning March 17th.  The kitchen will still be cooking but if someone needs a meal they will have to call in to 376-3103 and request a meal. Meals can be picked up outside the nutrition site no dine in. the nutrition site will still be delivering shut in meals to those who need them.

  • The OK Tavern will be temporarily closed until April 2nd.  The events scheduled for March 21st and 28th (Sweet Seventies Spin w/Tracy Lane and Loaded Chamber Band) will be rescheduled.

  • Regional Missouri Bank has temporarily suspended in-person transactions at their Downtown Marceline Location effective March 18th.  Please visit the Main Marceline Bank Branch.  They encourage the use of the Drive-Thru, ATM, Internet Banking & Mobile Banking App.

  • Marceline Family Healthmart will be closing their front store / lobby area effective Monday, March 23rd and are urging ill or high-risk patients to start using their drive-thru services immediately.  The drive-thru will remain open and curbside pick-up, mailing, and delivery will be available.

  • The 2020 Alumni Banquet scheduled for May 9th has been cancelled.  They will be offering refunds and returning ticket money to those who have ordered through the mail.  For local ticket purchases, please visit the ticket sales representative from which you purchased.  The May 2021 Banquet will honor both 2020 and 2021 classes.

  • Ma Vics will be conducting carry-outs only from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Call and order ahead by calling (660) 376-3773 and save time.  There will be a limit of 10 people in the dining area picking up food so you may be asked to wait outside.

  • Center Stage will be limiting meal service to 5 - 7 pm, Wednesday through Saturday for curbside orders and carry-out ONLY.  Please call in advance (660) 376-2264.

  • The Marceline Community Blood Drive scheduled for March 30th at the Eagles Lodge has been cancelled.

  • The U.S. Bank located at 100 N. Main Street will provide drive-thru service only between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm.  The lobby will be closed.  Should anyone need in their lockbox, please call (660) 376-2022 to schedule an appointment.

  • The Marceline Eagles Lodge Friday meals are cancelled.

  • Downtown Marceline's 5th Annual Chocolate Walk scheduled for May 9th has been cancelled for 2020.

  • Beginning March 25th, Prenger Foods will partner with Marceline Volunteers to bring groceries to the door of those who are at risk or self-isolating. Here a are a few things you need to know about the temporary grocery delivery service:

1. Beginning this Wednesday, deliveries will be made on Wednesday and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00p.m. inside the Marceline City limits.

2. Make your short list of essentials. Orders should be placed by calling 660-376-2322 starting at 11:00. First come, first serve. Please keep in mind to only get what you MUST have and some products or certain name brands might not be available.

3. Groceries must be paid for by credit card or check, no cash. The credit cards will be processed once the order is fulfilled with a receipt in the bag. Checks must be given to the volunteer delivering groceries. Please have your checkbook and pen ready when your groceries arrive on the front porch. The receipt will be hung in a bag on the doorknob. Please take the receipt, write your check, and put the check in the bag and hang it on the doorknob for the volunteer.

4. For the health and safety of all involved, please avoid all physical contact and keep your 6 feet of separation.

5. If you need groceries but cannot pay, please come to the food pantry, behind the Methodist Church, this Monday, 3/30, and the 1st and 3rd Mondays of next month from 3:00-5:00. If you cannot leave the house, call 376-2444, to arrange delivery.

  • The Model Train and Train Memorabilia event scheduled for May 2-3 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for next year on May 1 & 2, 2021.

  • Caseyís in Marceline, MO will only be open from 6 am until 8 pm. From 8-9 am, only ELDERLY persons and pregnant women will be permitted to shop inside the store.

  • UPDATE: The Walt Disney Hometown Museum has extended its temporary closing until May 1st.



  • The Marceline PD has suspended response to courtesy vehicle lock-out calls (leaving keys in vehicle) until further notice except for emergencies (i.e. small children / pets locked inside vehicle).

  • The Marceline Municipal Pool will be closed effective March 17th until April 6th where the situation will be reevaluated at that time.

  • The Marceline Carnegie Library will be closed beginning Thursday, March 19 through April 3rd where the situation will be reevaluated at that time.

  • Effective Monday, March 23, Cedar Street from Santa Fe Ave. to E. California Ave. and E. California, from Cedar St. to Pine Street will be closed to thru-traffic between the hours of 10:30 am to 1:00 pm for the distribution of meals traffic.  Please observe barricades and follow Police directions in this area as we are trying to ensure an uninterrupted and smooth flow of traffic.

  • The City of Marceline is temporarily suspending its disconnection policy for water and electric services under the provisions of the Marceline Code of Ordinances in response to the COVID-19 concerns. Disconnections will be suspended for a minimum of (30) days to ensure all water and electric service customers have access to clean running water in their homes. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that regular handwashing and proper cleaning of surfaces are important methods of defense to this virus. During this time, amounts owed will continue to accrue, and policies regarding electric and water services will be reevaluated at this end of this period.

  • Effective March 23rd, Advanced Disposal is implementing the following changes to their collection service:

- All trash/refuse and recycling must be placed in the company designated cart or a can with handles if you do not have a cart.  Loose items outside of the container will not be collected.

- All bulky item pickup/collection is suspended until further notice.

- At this time, yard waste service is unaffected by the changes; however,  potential changes to this program are anticipated.

  • The Marceline Fire Department has cancelled its annual Easter Egg Hunt in Ripley Park.  Funds allocated for this event will donated to the Marceline Community Food Drive on March 23 & 24.

  • Effective Thursday, March 26, the City Hall lobby will be closed to the public to minimize direct interaction with the public. Because of social distancing recommendations, the City of Marceline is also encouraging customers to call-in their payments for credit card or utilize the drop slot/box at the front door of City Hall. Please call (660) 376-3528 to call-in payments and for all other business that can be done via phone.   • The Marceline Police Department will be closing its lobby to walk inís effective March 30th, 2020 at 7 a.m. If you need to speak to an officer, please call the Linn County Dispatch Center directly at 660-376-2911 and they will take your information and have an officer get back to you by telephone.


Marceline R-V & Father McCartan Memorial Schools:

  • Effective Tuesday, March 17th at 3:00 pm, the Marceline R-V School District will be dismissed with an anticipated return date of Monday, April 6th where the situation will be reevaluated at that time.  This includes the Early Learning Center (ELC).  The Marceline R-V campus will be closed to students, parents and community members during this time and all school-related activities are cancelled. No practices, competitions, meetings or gatherings of any kind can take place for student athletics or organizations on campus or off. 

  • The Father McCartan Memorial School will be closed effective March 18th and will remain closed until April 3 or until further notice.
